CMS
Ever since the very early releases of WordPress, users have been eager to customize the software to suit their own needs. Indeed one of the more prevalent needs in today’s context is the need for content management, or more specifically, a Content Management System (CMS). With its flexibility and power, WordPress can be customized into a full fledged CMS.
What is a CMS?
This site is a CMS and it means in simple terms, you can have a static front page. By using certain plugins you can add hundreds of pages like we have and still keep it ordered and easy to navigate. Just because it is now a Content Management System this does not mean you loose the use of posts and categories as you can see in our menu and posts page.
In computing, a content management system (CMS) is a document centric collaborative application for managing documents and other content. A CMS is often a web application and often it is used as a method of managing web sites and web content.

In plain English, CMS is basically a blog on steroids. It’s also more formal and usually used on bigger websites. There are a few semantic differences as well. For example, in a CMS posts are not called posts but articles. There are so many such variations and variants that it’s impossible to cite them all. Nevertheless, here are a few to get you going.
Setting it all up!
The first theng we have to do when setting up a Wordpress Content Management site is to create two pages. One called “Home”

The we need to set up another page called Blog or Posts. This will be where the normal blogging information will go in that you add reguarily. All the other information is stored in in static web pages.

The last part of the operation is just as easy and we go to the options and the reading tab and click A Static Page.
We then need to select the home page in the drop down for the front page to be static and then choose the Blog or Posts page for the posts. Thats it you now have a static front page and a place to add your posts.
